Temporal Logic and State Systems

Temporal Logic and State Systems

Fred Kröger, Stephan Merz “Temporal Logic and State Systems"
Springer | 2008-04 | ISBN: 3540674012 | PDF | 436 pages | 3,4 Mb

Temporal logic has developed over the last 30 years into a powerful formal setting for the specification and verification of state-based systems. Based on university lectures given by the authors, this book is a comprehensive, concise, uniform, up-to-date presentation of the theory and applications of linear and branching time temporal logic; TLA (Temporal Logic of Actions); automata theoretical connections; model checking; and related theories.

All theoretical details and numerous application examples are elaborated carefully and with full formal rigor, and the book will serve as a basic source and reference for lecturers, graduate students and researchers.

Learning-Based Robot Vision

Learning-Based Robot Vision

Josef Pauli “Learning-Based Robot Vision"
Springer | 2001-06-15 | ISBN:3540421084 | PDF | 288 pages | 3,4 Mb

This book provides the background and introduces a practical methodology for developing autonomous camera-equipped robot systems which solve deliberate tasks in open environments based on their competences acquired from training, interaction, and learning in the real task-relevant world; visual demonstration and neural learning for the backbone for acquiring the situated competences. The author verifies the practicability of the proposed methodology by presenting a structured case study including high-level sub-tasks such as localizing, approaching, grasping, and carrying objects.

Digital Design and Computer Architecture

David Harris, Sarah Harris “Digital Design and Computer Architecture"
Morgan Kaufmann | 2007-03-02 | ISBN:0123704979 | PDF | 592 pages | 31,3 Mb

Digital Design and Computer Architecture is designed for courses that combine digital logic design with computer organization/architecture or that teach these subjects as a two-course sequence. Digital Design and Computer Architecture begins with a modern approach by rigorously covering the fundamentals of digital logic design and then introducing Hardware Description Languages (HDLs). Featuring examples of the two most widely-used HDLs, VHDL and Verilog, the first half of the text prepares the reader for what follows in the second: the design of a MIPS Processor. By the end of Digital Design and Computer Architecture, readers will be able to build their own microprocessor and will have a top-to-bottom understanding of how it works--even if they have no formal background in design or architecture beyond an introductory class. David Harris and Sarah Harris combine an engaging and humorous writing style with an updated and hands-on approach to digital design.

• Unique presentation of digital logic design from the perspective of computer architecture using a real instruction set, MIPS.
• Side-by-side examples of the two most prominent Hardware Design Languages--VHDL and Verilog--illustrate and compare the ways the each can be used in the design of digital systems.
• Worked examples conclude each section to enhance the reader's understanding and retention of the material.
• Companion Web site includes links to CAD tools for FPGA design from Synplicity and Xilinx,
lecture slides, laboratory projects, and solutions to exercises.

Hydraulics of pipeline systems

Hydraulics of pipeline systems

Pipeline Engineering Reference from C.H.I.P.S.
CRC | ISBN:0849318068 | Edition 1999 | PDF | 533 Pages | 4.58 MB

The first of its kind, this modern, comprehensive text covers both analysis and design of piping systems

Hydraulics of Pipeline Systems begins with a review of basic hydraulic principles, with emphasis on their use in pumped pipelines, manifolds, and the analysis and design of large pipe networks.

After the reader obtains an understanding of how these principles are implemented in computer solutions for steady state problems, the focus then turns to unsteady hydraulics. These are covered at three levels:
- Situations in which inertial forces and elastic effect can be ignored-quasi-steady solutions
- Situations that include inertial forces and techniques for solving systems of equations that describe time-dependent flows and pressures in large networks
- Situations in which time-dependent changes are really rapid-true transient analyses that also include the elastic effect of liquid compression and pipe expansion

Interpreting the CMMI (R): A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition

Interpreting the CMMI (R): A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition

Written by experienced process improvement professionals who have developed and implemented computer based systems in organizations around the world, Interpreting the CMMIÒ: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition provides you with specific techniques for performing process improvement.

Employing everyday language and supported by real world examples, the authors describe the fundamental concepts of the CMMI model, covering goals, practices, architecture, and definitions, and provide a structured approach for implementing the concepts of the CMMI into any organization. They discuss getting started in the process improvement effort, as well as how to continue on to high maturity. They walk you through the myriad of charts and graphs involved in statistical process control and offer practical recommendations. They also provide information on blending different process improvement initiatives into organizational programs (including agile development), and in this edition include more in-depth information.

Modern Processor Design: Fundamentals of Superscalar Processors (Electrical and Computer Engineering)

Modern Processor Design: Fundamentals of Superscalar Processors (Electrical and Computer Engineering)

Modern Processor Design: Fundamentals of Superscalar Processors is an exciting new first edition from John Shen of Carnegie Mellon University & Intel and Mikko Lipasti of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. This book brings together the numerous microarchitectural techniques for harvesting more instruction-level parallelism (ILP) to achieve better processor performance that have been proposed and implemented in real machines. Other advanced techniques from recent research efforts that extend beyond ILP to exploit thread-level parallelism (TLP) are also compiled in this book. All of these techniques, as well as the foundational principles behind them, are organized and presented within a clear framework that allows for ease of comprehension.

This text is intended for an advanced computer architecture course or a course in superscalar processor design. It is written at a level appropriate for senior or first year graduate level students, and can be used by professionals as well.

The Unabridged Pentium 4: IA32 Processor Genealogy (PC System Architecture Series)

The Unabridged Pentium 4: IA32 Processor Genealogy (PC System Architecture Series)

The Unabridged Pentium 4 offers unparalleled coverage of Intel’s IA32 family of processors, from the 386 through the Pentium 4 and Pentium M processors. Unlike other texts, which address solely a hardware or software audience, this book serves as a comprehensive technical reference for both audiences. Inside, the Mindshare trainers cover not only the hardware design and software enhancements of Intel’s latest processors, they also explain the relationship between these hardware and software characteristics.

As a result, readers will come away with a complete understanding of the processor’s internal architecture, the Front Side Bus (FSB), the processor’s relationship to the system, and the processor’s software architecture.

Recursion via Pascal (Cambridge Computer Science Texts)

Recursion via Pascal (Cambridge Computer Science Texts)

This book is devoted to recursion in programming, the technique by which the solution to a problem is expressed partly in terms of the solution to a simpler version of the same problem. Ultimately the solution to the simplest version must be given explicitly. In functional programming, recursion has received its full due since it is quite often the only repetitive construct. However, the programming language used here is Pascal and the examples have been chosen accordingly. It makes an interesting contrast with the use of recursion in functional and logic programming. The early chapters consider simple linear recursion using examples such as finding the highest common factor of a pair of numbers, and processing linked lists. Subsequent chapters move up through binary recursion, with examples which include the Towers of Hanoi problem and symbolic differentiation, to general recursion. The book contains well over 100 examples.
